About Author Steve Latner
Steve Latner lives in San Mateo, California. Many of the settings for his books are based on the landmarks, bars, and restaurants on the Peninsula south of San Francisco.
While working first in retail management and then in elementary education, Steve wrote a variety of short stories, a play, and two novellas for his own enjoyment and for the amusement of family and friends. After a health scare, Steve retired from full time teaching and concentrated on writing.
Steve joined a local writers group for mutual learning and support, and was delighted with the high quality of the people there. He wrote a vignette for the group about his experiences driving a taxi in the 1980’s, and upon reading it, the group suggested that it would be a good beginning for a crime thriller!
One year later, Steve completed This Taxi For Hire, the story of a young cabbie and a private investigator working to solve a series of murders in 1979.
Steve wasn’t finished! He got to work right away on a sequel that picks up right from the end of the first book. Sinister events and some unlucky coincidences propel Alex and Gentleman Jim forward into new and even more dangerous adventures in I Love You to Death!
Now there’s a third novel available too – Nice Guy Bob. This story continues in the crime fiction genre with a new story that takes place in the same neigborhood. As ever, Steve’s characters are relatable; riddled with flaws and tempered with humor.
Steve grew up in a family of writers, with both parents working for newspapers and successful published authors. He is happy to be continuing this tradition, and is enjoying his California author existence, sharing his home with two adorable rescue cats that sometimes take his bike for a spin!
When his bike is not available, Steve enjoys hiking, and he is a lifelong history nerd and lifelong fan of the San Fransisco Giants. Go Giants!
